What you do
- Housing components and mechanical parts for CNC machining, aluminium extrusion, sheet metal (bending, stamping), injection moulding, tooling and turning.
- Design for manufacturing: designs that transfer into production directly.
- 3D CAD and drawings in Autodesk Fusion, with PLM for revisions, BOMs and part data.
- Structural and thermal FEA to verify and optimise.
- Cost-oriented design, balancing performance, quality and production cost.
- Exchange the data that matters with electronics and software: PCB dimensions, mounting points, thermal requirements.
- Material and process selection against function, cost and volume.
- Prototyping with our German workshop (3D printing, CNC) and with manufacturing partners.
- Change requests from internal teams and customers, documented and tracked.
- Tolerances, fits and robustness that survive mass production.
- Thermal management (heat sinks, ventilation) and environmental sealing (IP-rated housings).
- Manufacturing drawings, 3D models and assembly instructions to industry standard.
- Supplier collaboration on quality, cost and lead time.
What you bring
- A degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or substantial experience in mechanical product design.
- Parts you have designed for several processes, not one: CNC, sheet metal forming, extrusion, stamping, injection moulding, tooling.
- A real understanding of manufacturing constraints, tolerances and production workflow.
- Autodesk Fusion or comparable CAD, and familiarity with PLM.
- Structural and thermal simulation.
- Design that holds both function and cost in view at once.
- Cross-disciplinary work with electronics and software teams.
- Good technical English. Vietnam-based manufacturing partners are a plus.
